  • Back to School

    As summer vacation draws to an end, the administration and staff are looking forward to welcoming your child back to school for the 2018-2019 school year.

    The first day of school is Monday, August 27th. 

    By now, you child should have received their home room assignments in the mail.

    If you have any questions please feel free to call the school.

  • End of the School Year

    The end of the school year has arrived! The teachers and staff are very proud of all the students accomplishments during the course of this school year!!

    The last day of school is Thursday, May 31, 2018. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

    Thank you for all your help and support through out the 2017-2018 school year.

    We hope you have a safe and fun summer!! We look forward to seeing you in the 2018-2019 school year!!  The first day of school will be Monday, August 27, 2018.

    Students will be taking the 2018 Pennsylvania System of School Assessment in ELA, Mathematics and Science (4th grade only) on the following dates:

    ELA: Tuesday, April 10, 2018 through Thursday, April 12, 2018 - one test per day in the AM only with the exception of make-ups.

    MATH: Tuesday, April 17, 2018 and Wednesday, April 18, 2018 - one test per day in the AM only with the exception of make-ups.

    SCIENCE (4th grade only): Tuesday, April 24, 2018 and Wednesday, April 25, 2018 - testing in the AM only with exception of make-up.

    In order for your child to do their best on this assessment, we are recommending plenty of sleep, a good breakfast, and a positive attitude. Please try not to schedule any appointments or trips for your child during these test dates. It is important that they be in school and on time to insure their best test performance.

  • RESCHEDULED: Threats & Consequences: What you need to know

    Due to the weather and poor road conditions on Wednesday, March 21st,  the Threats & Consequences: What you need to know Presentation  was cancelled. This presentation has been rescheduled for Monday, April 9, 2018 from 6:30 PM -8:00 PM at the Yough Intermediate Middle School.

  • Spring Book Fair

    Wednesday, March 21st & Thursday, March 22nd

    Students will be able to shop together in a fun-filled, safe environment at our Spring Book Fair.

    Acceptable forms of payment are cash and check (made payable to Mendon Technology Fund) Please have payment in an envelope clearly marked with your child's name and homeroom teacher. Remember to include the 6% sales tax.  Students will shop during their scheduled library class.

    Students will also have the opportunity to shop online at Mendon Scholastic Book Fair

  • Threats and Consequences: What you need to know

    Discussion to include:

    School District safety procedures

    Protocol of our local law enforcement

    District magistrate involvement/procedures

    Parent roles and responsibilities

     

    Working as a team is critical in keeping our schools and community a safe place for our children. Please join us for a presentation by Yough School District Administrators, Local District Magistrate(s), and Local Police Officials to hear what our district does to keep students safe, what the consequences are for threats, and what else parents can do to help the schools.

    Parents resources for social media, mental health, and school safety will be shared. This session is to benefit ALL parents and middle/high school students. Middle/high school students that attend are required to be with their parents/guardians.

    When: Wednesday, March 21, 2018

    Where: Yough Intermediate Middle School Auditorium

    Time: 6:30 pm -8:00 pm

    This presentation will be formal with time at the end for questions and clarification of items discussed.

  • SAVE THE DATE! 4th GRADE CELEBRATION

    WHERE: Hot Shots, 482 Bessemer Road, Mount Pleasant

    WHEN: Sunday, May 6th 1:00-4:00

    WHO: 4th Grade Students ONLY (Sorry, siblings cannot participate!)

    WHY: Let's celebrate the last year of elementary school with FUN games, playtime, and roller skating! Pizza and drinks will be provided for 4th graders. (There will be a CASH snack bar available for parents who wish to stay.)

    RSVP: An RSVP will be sent home in April.

    **We are asking each child for a $5 donation so we can make this party even better! Please send it to school in a marked envelope by 3/28**

  • Dangers of K2 and Spice

    Mendon's monthly PTO meeting is Tuesday, March 6, 2018. This month, prior to the PTO meeting, one of our high school students will be doing a short drug information presentation.

    We are asking parents of Mendon to join us at 6:30 (Room 303) to hear Alexa Cipra present on Dangers of K2 and Spice.

    The PTO meeting will follow the presentation.

  • Grandparents Day Breakfast

    The Yough School District and The Nutrition Group would like to invite grandparents of students who attend Mendon Elementary to have breakfast with us!

    Grandparents of Kindergarten, First and Fourth grade students are invited to attend on Monday, March 19, 2018.

    Grandparents of Second and Third grade students are invited to attend on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

    We will be serving breakfast from 8:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.

    We have limited facilities so we have to hold this event to grandparents only. In the  event that a grandparent cannot attend, a mother, father, aunt, uncle or a friend would be welcome.

    Price is $3.50 per adult  **Student price will be based on their free, reduced or full priced eligibility.** 

    Payments for the breakfast will be collected on the day of the event. There will be NO PREPAYMENTS ALLOWED!

    Deadline to register is March 2nd.

Career Awareness Initiative

The Yough School District is kicking off the school year with it's Career Awareness Initiative.  Part of the initiative is to bring awareness to the top Soft Skills employers look for in their employees.  What better way to prepare the future work force by introducing & reinforcing Soft Skills while they're in school?
